Our Roots, Our Future
River Valley Ranch was founded by Bill Rose in 1976 with a simple mission: to grow the finest, fresh mushrooms for the local community.
Guided by a spirit of hard work and reinvention, those early years laid the foundation for everything we are today. Over the decades, we’ve evolved alongside our community, expanding from a humble mushroom farm operated solely by Eric Rose into a thriving local food brand and destination.
Today, we hand-harvest mushrooms, craft small-batch specialty foods, run a year-round Farm Store, and supply tens of thousands of pounds of mushrooms to local grocery stores, home delivery services, food co-ops, restaurants and CSAs. We also bring our farm foods to over 40 farmers markets across Illinois and Wisconsin. Nearly 50 years later, we’re honored to carry forward that legacy, nurturing the connection between farm, kitchen, and community every step of the way.
